Never had a bit break, be faulty or actually wear out yet. Simond has a good pedigree, 25 years ago most climbers swung their ice axes! The stuff these days in Decathlon, represents good value for money. While I was passing by a decathlon store I saw that they had some climbing equipment made by simond and couldn't find any reviews online. I have only had experience with a scrambling confidence rope from Simond, as well as a few bits of mountaineering clothing - which all performed well - but they are a reliable brand that is omnipresent in the European climbing and alpinism scene. I've never had any issues with Simond kit. Feb 24, 2019 · I haven't got Simond gear myself but am confident their gear is safe and would get some for me, as the brand is old and specific to mountaineering gear, Decathlon in general has a good rep and anyway big group like that working in Europe couldn't afford selling dangerous crap. Aug 30, 2021 · Though I have plenty of Simond hardware and I'm very happy with it for the price, I think that the greatest strength of the current Simond range is actually their clothing and bags, which I believe only started after Decathlon bought them, which is presumably closely related to their other clothing brands.
